I was speaking to a prospective male model recently. He has a look most females would find sexually arousing, yet he surprised me when he said he accepted that in porn the guy doesn’t matter anyway.

Traditionally, in mainstream porn, yes, that has certainly been the case. Yet it would seem even that assumption is being eroded steadily by the rise of a huge female fan-base around adult film star James Deen.

See article.

No doubt this is an interesting phenomenon. Whether or not it’s revolutionary and a threat to the persistent madonna/whore paradigm for female sexuality in Western societies remains to be seen.

It is, however, clearly evidence we need to ensure there is more truly erotic porn out there, with relatable people and scenes…. for the burgeoning female audience to experience.

Ps. Personally, I cannot for the life of me comprehend what women see in Mr Deen. Once again, the web has a lot to answer for.

Note: Posted this over a year ago but thought it timely given the rape accusations against James Deen… Guilty or innocent, are we an ‘outrage’ culture or a ‘victim’ culture online?
