On watching: The Kubrick ‘Gaze’

This ‘gaze’ in a Kubrick film is usually a closeup, where it appears as though they are looking directly into the eyes of the viewer, threatening to break down the ‘fourth wall’.

From an article

Kubrick once told Jack Nicholson, “We’re not interested in photographing the reality. We’re interested in photographing the photograph of the reality.”

“It takes a great deal of courage and independence to decide to design your own image instead of the one that society rewards, but it gets easier as you go along”

Is Compersion a Form of Sexual Mudita?

Interesting article… from the conclusion:

I do indeed feel that compersion is a form of sexual mudita.

But I also feel that to evince that in a relationship requires a very deep self-examination and maturity that most people have not developed. (Italics mine)

Mirror, mirror on the wall: A brief look at katoptronophilia!

From the article by Dr Mark Griffiths:

“Theories suggest that katoptronophilia is fed from a basal narcissistic instinct. It is a combination of narcissism and degradation and a feeling of over powering dominance. It’s like watching a live porno of yourself. The most advanced stage of voyeur there is.”

On first look, katoptronophilia appears to be a […]

Quote of the Day – March 22 2016

“Our erotic knowledge empowers us, becomes a lens through which we scrutinize all aspects of our existence, forcing us to evaluate those aspects honestly in terms of their relative meaning within our lives. And this is a grave responsibility, projected from within each of us, not to settle for the convenient, the shoddy, the conventionally […]

Article: Shedding Light on the Myths About Women Who Have a Lot of Sex

From the article By Marrie Lobel

Nothing irritates me more than persistent half-truths and complete fabrications hyped as fact. Myths about women’s sexuality are continually refurbished and bought by the masses; old mores sold as shiny new tools to be hurled as weapons of control. It’s time to expose reality by shattering outdated perceptions of women […]

Quote of the Day – March 20 2016

“If people want to consider nudity, two or more consenting adults fucking, a womans vagina or an erection, ‘pornographic’ that is their prerogative. Nudity & sex are the most stimulating things in the world…I don’t consider nudity or sex pornographic. Violence, war, famine, racism, greed, corruption, that’s pornography.”

Photographers I Admire: Alfred Eisenstaedt

Alfred Eisenstaedt (1898–1995), the man behind some of the most memorable pictures of the 20th century, was a professional photographer for almost 70 years. He started working in photography in Weimar Germany in the 1920s. Having fled Nazi Germany in the mid-’30s, he shot for LIFE magazine from its debut in 1936 until it ceased […]
